1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember things between page loads — like a preference, a session, or anonymous analytics about how the site is used.

This Cookie Policy explains which cookies we use on www.skyguardflatroofing.co.uk and how you can control them. It works alongside our Privacy Policy.

2. Cookies we use

We aim to use as few cookies as possible. The cookies and browser storage we do use are described below.

Strictly necessary storage

The site stores your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage. This prevents the consent banner appearing on every page and does not track you across websites.

The contact and estimator forms do not require cookies to submit an enquiry.

Quote Rush game storage

If you play our Quote Rush mini-game, your browser stores a few small settings in its local storage so the game remembers you between visits: “qr_name” (the name you choose for the leaderboard), “qr_best” (your best score and distance on this device), “qr_char” (the character you last picked), “qr_mute” and “qr_music” (your sound choices), “qr_motion” (your reduced-motion choice) and “qr_tutorial” (that you have seen the first-run hints). None of these are cookies and none of them track you. Only the name you choose is ever sent to us, and only when you submit a score; you can clear all of it from your browser settings at any time.

When you submit a score we store the name, character, score, distance, combo, run length and a one-way hash of your IP address for rate-limiting; the hash cannot be turned back into your address. See our Privacy Policy for how long we keep it.

Analytics cookies (optional)

We may use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymised information about how visitors use the site — things like which pages are popular, roughly which region visitors come from, what device types are used, and how often visitors tap our phone, WhatsApp or email links or send one of our enquiry forms, including which type of job was picked and which steps of the price estimator were reached (never anyone’s name, contact details or anything typed into a form). This helps us improve the site.

  • Analytics cookies are only set after you give consent via the cookie banner.
  • Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_8TTR8D06V0, which are used to distinguish visitors and last for up to 2 years unless you decline or delete them.
  • Reports are used in aggregate to understand visits, popular pages, approximate region and device type.
  • We ask Google Analytics to anonymise IP information and do not use the reports to identify individual visitors.
  • Google may process analytics data in the United States. See our Privacy Policy for more on how Google handles it.
  • Enquiries recorded in Google Analytics (such as an enquiry form being sent) may also be shared with our Google Ads account, so we can see which adverts lead to them. We do not use Google Analytics for remarketing.

Google Ads cookies (optional)

We advertise on Google. If you accept cookies, the Google Ads tag lets us see which of our adverts lead to an enquiry: for example, that someone who clicked one of our adverts on Google later sent us an enquiry form. We use this to decide which adverts are worth paying for.

  • Google Ads cookies are only set after you give consent via the cookie banner, using the same Accept button as analytics.
  • Google Ads sets first-party cookies whose names start with _gcl_ (for example _gcl_au, and _gcl_aw if you arrived from one of our adverts). They link a visit to the advert that was clicked and last for up to 90 days unless you decline or delete them.
  • To match an advert click to a visit, Google may also read or set its own cookies on Google’s domains (such as google.com and doubleclick.net). Those are covered by Google’s advertising policies.
  • We tell Google not to use information from this website to personalise adverts, so we do not use it for remarketing (following you round other websites with our adverts).
  • We don’t send Google your name, email address, phone number or anything you type into our forms.

Other marketing cookies

We do not use any other third-party marketing or advertising cookies. If we add any in future, we’ll update this policy and ask for your consent first.

3. Maps and third-party links

The contact page shows a static map image of our location in Kilnhurst, with a link to OpenStreetMap. We do not embed OpenStreetMap or any other map service, so no map cookies are set while you are on our site. If you click through to OpenStreetMap, its own website and policies apply.

4. Managing cookies

You can control cookies in three ways:

Our cookie banner

When you first visit the site you’ll see a banner asking whether you consent to Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings button in the website footer, which reopens the banner. Choosing Decline, including after you have previously accepted, switches off Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement in that browser and deletes the Google Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_8TTR8D06V0) and the Google Ads _gcl_ cookies set on this website.

If you accepted cookies before we added Google Ads, the banner will ask you again, because your earlier choice only covered analytics.

Your browser settings

All modern browsers let you block, delete or be notified about cookies. Detailed instructions for the major browsers:

Google Analytics opt-out

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all sites by installing the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google’s ad settings

You can control how Google uses your information for adverts across the web in My Ad Center.

5. Consequences of disabling cookies

You can use the website and submit either enquiry form with all optional cookies declined.

6. Updates

We’ll update this page if our cookie usage changes. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent change.
