Flat Roofers in Rotherham.

Skyguard is based in Kilnhurst, twelve minutes north-east of Rotherham town centre. We have fitted single ply and repaired flat roofs across every postcode in the borough — from town-centre commercial units to Aughton bungalows, Wickersley extensions, Brinsworth garages, and 1970s felt back extensions in East Dene.

We are not a national company with a Rotherham postcode tacked onto a Google Ad. Every roofer on our team lives within 20 minutes of our Kilnhurst yard. When you ring us, you reach the same people who turn up to do the work.

Why Rotherham flat roofs need a specialist

Most flat roofs in the Rotherham area fall into one of three groups, and each one fails differently.

The 1960s–1970s felt roofs on kitchen and back-bedroom extensions across older terraces — particularly around East Dene, Clifton, Eastwood and parts of Kimberworth. These are 40-50 years past their design life. The felt has lost its bitumen oils, the laps have cracked, and most are leaking through capillary action even when they look fine from below. Patching buys months, not years. Single ply is the right replacement.

The GRP fibreglass installs that exploded in popularity in the 2000s and early 2010s, particularly on new-build estates around Wickersley, Bramley, Maltby and Aston. GRP is rigid. The building moves, GRP cracks at the seams and edges. Most of what we see now is 10-15 years old and cracking. We do not fit GRP — here is why. We will strip it and replace with a properly welded single ply membrane.

The garage and outbuilding flat roofs — every postcode has thousands of them. Most are end-of-life felt or failing GRP. A garage roof in single ply is the bread and butter of what we do. Usually a day, 20–30 m², £2,000 to £3,540 inc VAT depending on size, deck condition and access.

Postcode coverage across Rotherham

If you are in any of these postcodes and have a flat roof, we cover you. If you are outside them but the job is interesting, ring us anyway and we will let you know honestly whether we are the right people.

What you get when you call us

A quote visit from someone who has been doing this for fifteen years. An honest opinion, including the times when a £400 repair is the right answer and a £4,000 replacement is overkill. A written quote that lists the system, the price, and what is included. A timeline you can plan around. And, when the work is done, a 20-year manufacturer warranty on the membrane plus a 20-year workmanship guarantee from us, both in writing.

If we cannot do the job, or we think someone else is a better fit, we will say so. That is what “honest second opinions” means around here — it is the difference between a flat roofing specialist and the bloke in the van who fits whatever he was trained on twenty years ago.
