Sky Guard Flat Roofing is a South Yorkshire-based, family-run business focused entirely on one thing: doing single ply flat roofing better than anyone else in the region. No pitched roofs. No fascias. No fibreglass. Just flat roofs, done properly.
From a garage in Kilnhurst to Oxford University.
Sky Guard started in 2008 as a one-van operation working out of Kilnhurst, just a few minutes from where our yard sits today. Chris — the owner, the name on most of the Google reviews — had spent years on other people’s flat roof teams and could see the same thing repeated everywhere: badly specified felt going on, leaking five years later, getting ripped off and replaced with more badly specified felt.
Single ply was just starting to break through in the UK domestic market then. We took the manufacturer training (back when very few small contractors did), fitted our first proper single ply roof, and never looked back.
Fifteen years on, the same principle still drives the business: do one thing, do it properly, and don’t fit anything you wouldn’t put on your own house. That’s why we don’t install GRP. It’s why we’re trained on seven systems instead of being tied to one. And it’s why every quote starts with a free survey — because we won’t price work we haven’t seen with our own eyes.

A new build for Oxford University, designed to sit alongside 600-year-old heritage architecture. The roof detailing had to be technically perfect and visually invisible.
